Privacy policy

This policy explains what Prepwise collects, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. We have tried to keep it short and readable.

1. Who we are

Prepwise is an IELTS speaking practice service operated by BlackNerd Studio Limited. You take simulated speaking tests with an AI examiner over live voice and receive feedback with band estimates and examiner-style notes. This policy covers the Prepwise website and mobile apps.

2. Information we collect

  • Account information from your sign-in provider. You sign in with Google or Apple, and we receive your name, email address and profile picture. We never see or store passwords.
  • Profile settings you choose to set: display name, target band, exam date and test type.
  • Practice data: the audio of your speaking sessions, the transcripts generated from them, and the feedback we produce.
  • Usage data: analytics from Vercel Analytics, Microsoft Clarity and PostHog, and the cookies needed to keep you signed in.
  • Support correspondence: anything you send us when you ask for help.

3. How we use your information

  • To run your mock sessions and generate your feedback.
  • To keep your account working: sign-in, credit balance and purchase history.
  • To understand how the product is used and to improve it.
  • To respond to your support requests.
  • To keep the service secure and prevent abuse.

4. Voice and AI processing

Your speaking sessions happen over a live voice connection. The audio is processed by our AI voice provider to run the conversation with the examiner and to generate your transcript and feedback. Band estimates and examiner notes are produced automatically by AI.

5. Payments

Credits are sold in packs. On the web you pay through Stripe Checkout; your card details are processed by Stripe and we never store them. In the mobile apps you pay through Apple App Store or Google Play in-app purchase. Current prices are shown on the pricing page.

Credits are consumed per mock session. Unused credits are non-refundable except where the law requires otherwise, and remaining credits are not refunded when an account is deleted.

6. Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the providers we need to run the service: our AI voice provider to run sessions, Stripe, Apple and Google to process payments, and our hosting and analytics providers. We also disclose data when the law requires it.

7. Retention and deletion

We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete your account from the profile page at any time. Deletion removes your attempts, feedback and any remaining credits.

8. Your rights

You can ask to access the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or object to how we process it. Account deletion is self-serve in the profile page. For everything else, contact support and we will help.

9. Children

Prepwise is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child under 16 has an account, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product evolves. We will post changes on this page and update the date at the top.
